Last winter, when I put the Nikasil bore kit on the Bronze Beauty, I was concerned about internal valve cover condensation, so I got the breather unit from a later model, (with the two little inlets for extra breathers) drilled and tapped the valve covers and ran lines to the breather unit. It was a very simple procedure so I figured, what the heck, might as well do it. Can't hurt...............

I believe the reason for the valve cover breather was to get rid of the moisture caused by condensation. I do not know why some models had them and some don't. It varied from model to model.

I guess if your oil looks milky (like yoo-hoo) then you are getting water in the oil and may want to add some breathers.

Are there any REAL benefits to having the breather pipes on the valve covers.
