<DIV></DIV>Hi Ted,
<DIV></DIV>As Paul said, both valves are larger on the later heads. There is a
<DIV></DIV>raised area around the valve guide that is part of the casting - this
<DIV></DIV>would have to be machined down to match the later heads if you wanted to
<DIV></DIV>use dual springs. Instead of doing this though, I'd either just use the
<DIV></DIV>heads as they are with single springs and small valves (IMHO, the early
<DIV></DIV>Ambos with these heads run plenty strong) or find a pair of later heads.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>One other thing that is different is the way they are secured to the
<DIV></DIV>cylinder studs. Instead of a nut with an "allen" head under the hex plug
<DIV></DIV>at the 12 o'clock position on the later heads, there is a bolt/nut
<DIV></DIV>thingy (hex head, approx. 3" long, o-ring groove) on the V700/early Ambo
<DIV></DIV>heads. You'll need these if you're going to use the early heads.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>I can post some pics of the two heads side by side for comparison if
<DIV></DIV>you'd like. Cheers,
<DIV></DIV>

<DIV></DIV>> Hi Ted,
<DIV></DIV>> I wouldn't think there would be a problem with the single valve springs
<DIV></DIV>> unless it was with float at high RPMs. The V700/early Ambo heads also
<DIV></DIV>> have smaller valve diameters so you'll not get the horsepower of the
<DIV></DIV>> later heads. They use a different guide as well, but the later style
<DIV></DIV>> will work without the locating circlip or ridge. One plus that I've
<DIV></DIV>> noticed though is that the V700 heads don't seem to crack between the
<DIV></DIV>> (intake or exhaust? - can't remember right now) valve and sparkplug hole
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>> like most of the later heads do. If you use them I'd recommend using the
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>> reducer inserts sandwiched between two gaskets for proper port velocity
<DIV></DIV>> and heat isolation.
