Michigan's historic plate rules used to be pretty cool. 12 bux and
change; no renewal.

that was over 30 years ago.

'bout ten years ago it changed; it's still pretty cheap but they have
you re-up the renewal every few years.

I'm in the process of getting a '72 Eldo and will plate it historic.

Best part of the process isn't the plates - it's the insurance. It's
less than a fifth of 'normal' bike insurance! Got a quote from Amrican
Collector; $43 bux for comprehensive for a year. Now that's a screamin'
deal! They (the insurance geeks) must think I'm gonna ride
conservatively on account of I have an old ride...

They don't know me very well, either.

Mid Ohio has some vendors with old plates, pretty reasonable as I

I originally put a historic plate on my bike (in VA) so that I could get

it sorted before having to deal with inspections, pretty good deal, $10
one time. I haven't let the restrictions slow me down too much, I
figure that once I'm out of VA no one knows what the rules are anyway.
Also, I think there is some loophole about riding to/from a rally, or
for test driving. That said, this may be the year I get a proper
liscence plate, town tag, inspection sticker, and whatever other 2005
memorabilia "they" want me to have.

Anyone have a
1970 North Carolina motorcycle plate laying around?
