Welcome Chuck. You've picked the best list to join and the best (in my
opinion) bike to ride. You can always pick up another pair of valve covers
if you want to keep these original. Just check eBay or with Mark at Moto
Guzzi Classics (#1 NOS parts supplier and all around great guy at (562)

Hi!

Name's Chuck Sherman, and I've been ridin' since B4 I've had a driver's
license. Been collecting old cars and bikes for 30+ years; and finally
decided to beef up the collection (not much of one right now) with a '72
Eldo.

I'm currently down to two bikes - a '62 Dream project and Lucy the
hotrod Dnepr. I enjoy older bikes, 'cuz:

a) They're less complicated (and rust prone) than old cars
b) They take up less space than old cars
c) They tend to be faster than old cars, and;
d) I'm not competing with some sportbike squid or a dweebie dentist on a
40K custom Harley when I'm on the street with a 'different' bike.

Bike is currently enroute - a mostly original civilian eldo; sausage
muffs, bench seat, footpegs. While I'm not planning on restoring it (i
like that it's mostly original) I'd like to tear it down simply to
detail the bits so that she shines.

Question:

I know (as a result of much research) that '72 Eldos did not have
polished valvecovers. I like the 'look' of the polished Ambo covers -
with the Guzzisti look down on me if I polish my covers?

I'm askin' on account of the Beemer crowd disowned me when I put JC
Whitney muffs on my R75/5 and then (gasp!) drilled them out so that they
sounded like a proper bike. C'mon - it's not a trailer queen, its a
rider!

Don't want to offend anyone on the first post - that's for Post #3.

Until then,

Chuck.
