Hi Len,

I'm cosmetically restoring a 1970 Ambo, giving it a cafe racer look.
Mark E is restoring all of the sheetmetal for me and had my fender stays
and grab rails re-chromed. I swapped him my flaking front right crash
bar for a NOS one. I went through all of the mechanics and tuned her
up/replaced parts as necessary - fine tuning has to wait until I get the
tank back to get some go go juice to the carbs. I've powder coated the
wheels and installed new tires, installed NOS leg shields, a small cafe
fairing, new bar end blinkers, and a new set of bar mounted mirrors.
I'm going through round 2 of polish work as I am not happy with the
shine of the aluminum bits, so I will be taking that on now before the
sheetmetal gets back. I've got chrome front wheel hubs to install,
though I may see how much shine I can get out of these original
non-chromed hubs. I also just picked up a badly oxidized single speedo
housing with original Veglia speedo that needs to be restored. My
current housing is nice but has a small chip in it by the handle bar
riser, no big deal, but I'll see how good I can get this oxidized one
shining as it has no chips. It also has the flip cover for the key
ignition which is nice. My speedo is some sort of non-Guzzi Veglia,
black face with idiot lights incorporated plus a tripometer. Kinda
nice, unique, but not stock, so I may rebuild this stock speedo and
install it in the better of the 2 housings. Then re-install all of the
sheetmetal, fire her up, fine tune, and I'm ready for the National.

Hey Gordon,

What the story with Ramflow mufflers? Couldn't find any info on them on
the internet.

I'm working on my Ambo.

Engine and tranny are back in the frame. Still painting other parts and
waiting for some warm weather so I can do some assembly.

Wheels are all apart so I can polish rims and hubs and replace spokes
and
true wheels. The project has been on hold due to finishing/selling other
projects and buying another bike.

Also some family issues (daughter getting separated) and moving her
belongings across a few states and back home into storage have taken-up
quite a ferw spare weekends. Weather and snow haven't helped either.

Hoping to get back on the Ambo soon!

I noticed a few of us doing a Ambo/Eldo project.

Just curious who is doing what?

And what have been your road blocks?

I am doing a 72-74 disc conversion, paint job, cleaning, new exhaust,
bearings here and there, rewiring, alt. conversion, wheels, minor
engine
work and adding blinkers.

My biggest headache has been converting the Japanese left control to
allow
for the lights on/off, turn signals & horn. I also want to add relays
for
the hi/low headlght.
there is not much room in the headlight nacelle.

They look like Ramflows to me.

Thinking of participating here a little more. I'm currently doing up a
'74
Eldo, have been enjoying lurking and reading your tips etc. This seems
like
one of the nicer internet discussion areas these days.
