Just six months ago I cleaned out a number of guzzis , projects and
running bikes etc- I was down to my 1100carb sport and a v7sport basket
project that was my wife's wedding present to me. I thought I was done
buying and selling and working on bikes other than the v7sport, with the
understanding that if a nice '74 Eldo came along at the right price that
it would round things out and i would really be done- but I had been
looking for one for years and was not thinking it would happen anytime
soon, so I started getting things ready to restore the v7sport albeit
slowly. I had just got things off to the powder coaters when I checked
cycletrader as I normally do, and found an advertised white '73 Eldo in
southern cal for $3,650 and there was a picture and there was a disc
brake. So I called and turns out it was an Oct.73 bike- perfect! And in
good running condition just needing a bit of buff and shine, with all of
the good cop stuff that I wanted on it. done deal- it is sitting in my
garage now and I love it and it is not going anywhere- this is the loop
I have been waiting for. so no biggee, it is not a project and i can put
all of my attention on the v7sport still. Well, at least until a few
days later- a '72 Eldo comes up in the local online ads - 100% complete,
straight stored indoors for $800. well heck, even if it is just for
spares it is a good deal- so i go to check it out and it is actually
very nice, I can't say no, the price is right. So I am not sure if I
will end up keeping the '72 but I plan on re-doing the wiring and it is
running now with some elctrical gremlins as seen in my recent posts- I
will probably put in a complete new top end- redo the valves, guides
etc., and pistons and barrels if needed, and just ride it as is and
probably sell it this summer. It is kind of funky colors- hunter green
frame and headlight ears with a green/cream combo on the tank and
sidecovers. It originally belonged to a Mr.Hall of Manteca, CA but I got
it from a 2nd ot third owner.

I noticed a few of us doing a Ambo/Eldo project.

Just curious who is doing what?

And what have been your road blocks?

I am doing a 72-74 disc conversion, paint job, cleaning, new exhaust,
bearings here and there, rewiring, alt. conversion, wheels, minor
engine
work and adding blinkers.

My biggest headache has been converting the Japanese left control to
allow
for the lights on/off, turn signals & horn. I also want to add relays
for
the hi/low headlght.
there is not much room in the headlight nacelle.

They look like Ramflows to me.

Thinking of participating here a little more. I'm currently doing up a
'74
Eldo, have been enjoying lurking and reading your tips etc. This seems
like
one of the nicer internet discussion areas these days.
