Dennis:
On a couple of my bikes I have real short clamp on mirrors, instead
of looking over my shoulder I peek under my armpit, just need to tell
whether it's a cop or not. You can kinda see it on my Lav here

Not for everyone, but it works for me.

This probably ranks right up there with questions like "what kind of tires
do your recommend for my loop?" I've not found a set of mirrors that I
really like on my Eldo. The ones I liked the best were the clamp on mirrors
that came with the bike when I bought it, but they got obliterated by a
70mph crash. I've since tried a variety of mirrors, from Napoleon bar ends
to Honda 70's style mirrors like the ones that were on Honda 400/550/750
bikes of the early to mid 1970's. These are just a bit too much like mickey
mouse ears for my liking (no offense intended to anyone running these
mirrors, please). I'd rather not go back to the bar end mirrors, because I
kind of like the vintage look of the other style of mirrors, but I just
can't find anything that's just right. I'd prefer to have mirrors kind of
like the Honda type, but without quite so much rise. Something that had more
of a horizontal bend so that they would both be lower, and offer better
sightlines, as the Honda type still have me seeing my shoulders more than I
would like. If anyone has any ideas, I'm interested. Pictures are
welcomed, off list. By the way, I've got 10mm mirror mounts on my bars, so
I'd prefer to have screw-on mirrors.
Thanks!
D.J.
