It was attached to the generator case. The wire attached to the
terminal to which the red and red/gray wires attached.

Could it be for radio interference or something like that?

I wasn't very clear on that last post. The condensor was fitted to the
generator I removed. Anyone else seen this? It was a 1972 LAPD model.

I installed an alternator on a friend's bike Friday and was surprised
to see that a condenser was attached to it and wired in.

Anyone else ever seen this?

What was its function?

I've been installing alternators on several local machines to be sure
that they fit them all, and it has been very instructive. You can't
believe the variation in deck height and placement I've seen on the
five different bikes (two Eldos, two Ambos, and one V700) on which
I've put them. We had to change the design a bit to make them bolt
right onto all. We're now cranking out these brackets and will be
shipping soon.
