Just wanted to say thanks for the patience and response on my question
regarding removing the VIN plate. This list really is great. I understood
the need for prepping the frame, I was just under the understanding that
only the DMV could replace a VIN plate once it was removed. I also was
confused on the replacing of the plate, but I guess it makes sense now. I
suppose the key difference in my understanding is that for my truck, the
VIN number is stamped into the frame and so the frame number and the VIN
plate have to match. Thus all the complications with the DMV, etc.
