I'll buy anything once (as long as it can be returned...). Here are my
product evaluations:

1. Cold Heat- This thing Sucks! The reason I say this is because the
tip doesn't actually get hot until you touch the solder to it to conduct
electricity. I don't like the idea of just melting solder onto the
wires, I think it makes a much better joint if you heat the wires first
and let them melt the solder and pull it in. This also means that you
can't use it to heat shrink tubing. Also, I of course tried touching my
finger to it a few seconds after soldering and it was still freakin'
hot. I plan on returning it to Radio Shack (they sell them for $19.99
and will take them back if not satified).

2. Harbor Freight Pencil Torch- Worth every penny (all 200 of them)!
The butane charge doesn't last for too long so you have to refill it
frequently but it has come in very handy for me on a number of
occasions. Good for shink tubing (just don't get it too close) and I
used it to resolder the top of the radiator tank on my '65 Mustang.

Charlie:
I use a BernzOmatic pencil torch, specifically their ST900 propane
mini torch. Great intense heat in a tiny controlled area. I use it for
everything from wiring to soldering gas tanks back together, but you
still need three hands sometimes. I don't know if they still make them,

got mine on ebay.

Seems like an oxymoron to me!
Anyone tried one of those "Cold Heat" cordless soldering irons you see
advertised on TV? Would they work on thing like soldering terminals onto
wires and such? Cheers,

Charlie
