Sounds like maybe the neutral switch is grounding both lights. Check the
wire connections on and between the Neutral & Gen lights. Then check and
make sure that the wire going from the gen to the light is good. Try
unhooking the wire from the generator and see if the Gen light continues to
go on. Try the same with the Neutral switch/wire.

No it has a speedo and a tach. Both the neutral and Gen lights come on
when I shift the bike in Neutral

Steve, I assume you have the single pod speedo with the 4 lights at the
bottom?
Do both lights come on, or just the Gen light.
Does the Neutral light come on at all, running, not running with key on?

Make sure they were put back, or hooked up, in the right order. I took
mine
apart one time and put them back in the wrong order. Later that day, I
started it without paying attention to the lights when I did so. I got a
couple of miles down the road and looked down to see the oil pressure
light
on! I immediately shut it down and called my buddy to come pick me up.
We
hauled it home and I went out and bought a Honda (CB750 - cheap,
immediately
available. I could only afford to ride a bike at that time, insurance on
a
car was prohibitive) It turns out, I had put the "Lights" light in the
Oil
spot.

Rode the Honda, disassembled the Guzzi - for restoration (ended up being
stored in boxes for about 10 years).
