John:

I had six sets of solo seat hardware made by a high end shop. I sold 3 sets
to some of the guys on this list who had nothing but good to say about them.
I swapped 2 sets for parts and kept a set for my bike.

I could have more made, but they're require a bit of an investment on my
part. I'd have to get at least 6 more sets made to make it somewhat cost
effective. My asking price for a set, which is a pair of spring cups and a
pair of front hinges, powdercoated in black, is $90 US. They will be exact
reproductions of the originals except that the quality is better - no weld
spatter, sharp edges, etc.

If Frank and others are interested I'm willing to move forward and have more
made.

John

Hi guys;
The following is an email I received from a fellow loopframe
enthusiast in Germany who is looking for some spring holders for his
seat, or at least some photos and measurements. I've never seen them
myself, but thought one of the fine folk on this list might be able to
help.
Anyone??

 Hello John,
the restoration of my police ambassador advances step by step. Thanks to
the decals I got from you I could proceed with rechroming and paint job.
Meanwhile I found a B&M siren for the rear swing and an original NOS
solo seat. At ebay I found the springs for this seat, what I could not
find is a pair
of these spring cups or spring holders that fix the bottom of the
springs to the frame.
I contacted Moe from cyclegarden and Harpers and MG Cycle, but in vain.
There are not even reproductions available.
When I met our friend Dieter from Krefeld at a local MG meeting last
weekend we talked about it and he thought it a good idea to contact you.
Perhaps you know someone who would sell these holders or someone who
owns this spring holders and makes it possible to get a detailed photo
and some measures.
The reproduction itself should not be a problem, I can do that of my
own. I would like to keep my ambo as authentical as possible, therefore
I hesitate to construct something "like" the original spring cups. When
its a repro it should be a perfect copy.
If you have an idea I would be very glad about it. I know that there is
only a little chance but without asking I wont get answers.

Thank you very much, perhaps you find the time to write back,
all the best from Germany
Frank
