Ken,
I think I'm going to use the washers and the red stuff....better safe than sorry. If I don't, I'll be tormented with nightmares about wrestling my tranny out again. I've never used the red lock-tite stuff and had to take it apart again, so I don't know what that would be like, (hopefully, I won't have to find out!)
I am going to JB Weld over the cam plug. That stuff, I've used a million times and it's pretty tough. I used to work for a corporate evil empire and build carbide dies in a toxic waste dump factory, (I'm a teacher now) and when the dies needed a threaded plug put in after they were finish ground, I had to JB Weld it because I couldn't use my torch to braze it in and risk ruining the precision grinding. Anyway, the dies were subjected to enormous amounts of pressure and stress and I never knew one that was JB'd to fail. (hey, ....maybe I should have used it on the ex-wife's mouth?!?!? Now, why didn't I think of that before it was too late?)

Schooner washers are the latest and greatest
they replace the knuckle-bleeding bend tabs that originally came on
these bikes. MG Cycle sells the ones you need (8mm). Use the red
lock-tite, too.
I've not JB Welded the cam plug on my Ambo

Do you think red lock-tite is necessary? I have always used the schooner
washers & blue lock-tite. Like Ray, I left the cam plug in place & put the JB
Weld over the top of the cam plug.
