New latches are cheap AND they look great. I went with the new latches. I
will be putting them on later this week. You will need a spacer under the
latch to help align it.

Found a locksmith near work who knew his "stuff", got a key, ground it
down a bit, got it to fit, but the bag would not lock. I left it with
him to take a closer look at the internals of the lock itself. Called
him a few minutes ago and he said the lock is rusted and corroded, not
looking good. So, I can either leave the original latches as is with no
lockability, or install the new latches from McMaster which will require
drilling out the old riveted latches and drilling new holes for the
replacement latches. Hmmmm, not sure which way to go.....
