Don't know if any of this will help, Fred. But I remember an "old time"
Guzzi rider told me once to go one size larger on the pilot jet anytime
the idle mixture screws needed to be turned out more than 2 turns. I've
also found that idle mixture screws with a different taper to the tip
can make a difference. Using the earlier pre-EPA screws made a
difference on my Morini. I was pondering the other day though which is
which - is the long, barely noticable taper the "EPA" screw or the
short, noticable one? Can't dismember! Cheers,

I think so. I did it wrong once, on one side, and the bike acted as you
describe.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Greg, you're talking about the little
brass thingy with the tiny check-valve balls inside? The correct way
is
so the jet needle bears down on the end with the holes in it (top side)
and the spring is under it, and presses up on the end with the slot?

Check the plungers in your "accelerator pumps." Easy to put them in
upside down.

 Hi all,

My Eldo have been lean off idle since I built it. It will idle fine,
but when I go to take off it is really lean and bogs down. I went
through the carbs completely when I built the bike initially, and
noticed one carb body had some significant corrosion, so I got a
second
complete set which I am rebuilding now. They are in great shape,
but I
wonder if I should alter the jetting any to try and correct the
condition.

I am using the stock airbox, stock jetting, and a new filter I got
from
Gordon and Rick.

Would a larger pilot jet help?

TIA
