Went to 3 places today and finally found a cone shaped exhaust pipe
expansion tool. Took the exhaust nut and set it on my vice, set the
cone inside and wacked it a few times with my sledge hammer. Took it
over to the bike, tight fit now. Worked it all the way in with the
special MG Cycle exhaust nut tool and could feel those front threads
working the cylinder threads. Backed it all the way out and repeated
the process one more time. Did the same to the other side. This
process really cleaned up the cylinder head threads.

Ground the messy tabs on the exhaust nuts to a smoother finish and
re-installed the headers. Exhaust header nuts now fit tight with no
apparant issues. Got the mufflers installed with the new brackets and
they now sit lower where they should. Had to bend the center stand arms
a bit as they were hitting the mufllers and leaving the legs sitting
only about 3 1/2 inches off the ground. With the arms now bent up a
bit, I now have 5" or slightly more, which is where it should be. Went
to compare Cam's Eldo and his stand is about 5.5" off the ground, so a
little bang here and there saved me having to buy some new mufflers.
She's now all set and ready for the tank and sidecovers to complete the
project. Can't wait to get her fired up, hopefully by next weekend.
