Steve:
Thanks for the kind words. As we say here in the department of
redundancy department, there's nothing more satisfying than satisfied
customers who are satisfied.
Hans-- The decals I have for the tank/fendertips are printed on clear
2-mil self adhesive vinyl, and die cut very close to the design. This
will leave a slight outline around the decal when cleared over unless
you really want to lay on the clear and bury it in multiple coats and
lots of careful sanding. Ask your painter. The sidecover decals are die
cut directly out of colored 2 mil vinyl and have no outline, although
you can still feel them when cleared over unless you want to really bury
them in the clearcoat.
I initially started making these when I found that there weren't
any correct decals available for an Ambo I restored several years ago,
and discovered that the originals were screened directly on the tank.
Personally I like to be as correct as possible in my restorations, and
although I have some silkscreening experience I decided to make this
concession to originality. The small amount I initially made up to
cover the cost of art and dies quickly sold out and I've been forced to
continue production because of popular demand. Plus it's fun to help
folks out, I've sold hundreds and have yet to hear a complaint. Because
of that demand (mostly from folks on this list) I've branched out and
offer all the decals for Eldos and early and late Ambos.
I've talked to people who had some old water slide decals that were
available for repairs back in the day, and they disintegrated when
immersed in water, being over 30 years old. The examples of original
silkscreened emblems that I've seen were all worn, and the ones on my
bike came off with a little bit of waxing, probably because the
silkscreen ink wasn't UV resistant. Years in the sun will take its toll.
My decals have UV resistant properties which are further enhanced by
clearcoat, which I recommend for durability.
If you're interested, contact me off list and I'll be happy to help out.

 Hans,
John's are definitely the best on the market. Here's a link to his website:

Just leave out the spaces. His email is spajohn @ raex. com (again leave out the spaces)
I just bought a full set from him. Quality is superb and the price is great at $10 for the eagles and $15 for sidecover decals (for my Ambassador) and he's got them in stock for quick shipment.

I am having my tank repainted by a professional. He was wondering how to
get the eagle design and the Moto Guzzi logo done, so I checked the
archives and found various posts about John Prusnek's decals. The posts
are from 2002-2004. Is this still the way to go and does John still have
sets for sale? There was a photo on John's site of a black tank and I
found that I could see the decal outline aounr Moto Guzzi. Is this just
my impression, or are the outlines actually invisible, once clear
coated? I would prefer not to see the outlines in the final product.
Does anyone know where to get a silk-screen pattern for the eagle.
Sending the tank to Moe at Cycllegarden is really not an option for me,
as the transport alone would be well over $100.

Thanks for your advice.
Hans
