Ray, I always glance at my mirror at a red light to see who is coming up
behind me and with my left foot I tap the brake light several times so that
the car coming up behind me sees me. People "see" a flashing brake light
better than a steady-state brake light. I do this even when I am driving a

I too use both brakes while stopping. My concern is not having the brake
light on while stopped at a light or sign. I'd rather keep both feet on
the ground at a complete stop. I've never been rear-ended (everything
but) but I've seen it done and the excuse is always the same...didn't
see him. I'm thinking maybe the 4" rear signals I'm going to use will
help with that. I'll wire them as running lights, as well as turns,
maybe even brakes. I think Signal Dynamics has good boxes for that. If
the switched cable has ANY negative effect on braking, I don't want to
use it.

So, who has the chunky cables, not wimpy. I saw the recent thread about
Barnett cables from Charlie. Are there any other vendors with
substantial cables? Also, during that conversation a question came up
regarding inner cable lining. Is it true that cables lined with teflon
should not be lubed?

Charlie, you said you sent Barnett your old cable for length info. Can
you give us a reference for this length? I can't find my old cable. I've
got an Eldo and using civilian bars. I think yours is an Ambo and
probably civilian bars, as well? Thanks.

mounted switch. Even if they do work right, The compression required to
work them has an adverse effect on the brake operation. I think a lot of
the bad rep of the Loopframe TLS brake is because of cable issues. Some
of the aftermarket cables I've seen are really small diameter and wimpy.
I'm generally happy to ride without a front brake switch as long as the
rear switch is reliable. I always use the rear brake in tandem with the
front when I come to stop. I have always mean't to work out a
microswitch
set-up at the lever, but it hasn't become a priority yet.
