Warning taken! The last two bikes I wired were old BSA's with "positive earth". I know it shouldn't have but it screwed with my head, bad. It all worked out ok but many sessions were necessary and smoke was made. Ray

As a word of caution, don't start this after 9 pm as your brain will quickly betray you by turning into mush. I made this mistake on the V700.

As someone already posted, the key to running the stock switch is to take the load off of it by putting relays in the headlight bucket. Wire it so the handle bar switch only powers the relay coils. The relay contacts to the heavy work thereby preventing the switch meltdown that would other wise occur. I do this as standard practice on all my loops.
