Been having offline discussions with John Prusnek and one talk with Mark
E about tank and fender decals. Cam and I happened to notice that his
decals had white "Moto Guzzi" lettering with little or no shading, these
are the ones Mark E installed on his 74 Eldo. I installed John's fender
tip decals which have clear lettering (which then take on the black
color of my fenders when installed) and have white shading around them.
John said every piece of evidence he has seen shows that this is how the
bikes came stock. Mark E said they came both ways. I took a look at
the tank pix of the current 70 Ambo, it had white lettering with little
or no shading as far as I can tell from the pix when I sent it to Mark
for repaint, but the decals were definitely stick on type replacements.
I also found some old pix of Patience, the 71 Police Ambo. That bike
had all original paint work and decals, and low and behold, the tank
decals were the silk screened original type, all white letters. I also
have an original sales ad for a police Ambo which shows white lettering
on the tank. My question is, does anybody know what the correct
lettering color should be for a black tank and fenders as it came out of
the factory? Should it be white with no shading (guess the shading
would disappear anyway on black paintwork) or should it be black with
white shading? I like the quality of John's decals and they look pretty
cool on the fenders, but I'd like to go with the original colors if I
can figure out what that is, although I think the white lettering has
more pop on the black tank than the black letters with white shading.
Does anybody on this board have the original silk screened decals on
either black or a dark colored Ambo/Eldo? If so, what color is the
lettering? Any opinions on which way to go?

Thanx!
