I used the MG parts with mine. MG makes a spacer that does just that.
I have Eldo pipes on a '77 SP head. I used an angle grinder to take
the
thin lip off the pipes leaving the bead on the head end of the pipe
intact. They have been working fine and someday I will get a set of SS
pipes and do the same thing.

In non-loop news, I sold my Jackal 1100S and am buying a red V11 Sport
from Dave Richardson at Moto Int. I will have a 1974 Eldo and a 2004
Sport to compare and see if MG has made any progress in 30 years.
