Subject: Petcock threads question

Can anyone tell me what the thread size is for the petcocks? I have
slightly damaged threads in the tank and I need to get a tap to try to
clean them up- also, I read somewhere that some loops used different
sized petcocks for left/right because of the reserve tap- is this
correct? I don't think I have come across that before...
