It's short for "molybdenum disulphide", it's an additive used in
lubrication applications where there's high-pressure gear-tooth contact,
and here's a little website explaining (chemically) why it works.

Some new Guzzi owner's manuals recommend adding some to the rear drive.
Dealers and owners are split (see "Oil Threads - The Horror") on whether
it makes a difference and whether it's worth it...my dealer says that a
modern synthetic lube will work just fine without it.
