Oh, Mine has a sprung wheel (not that it makes it any less rigid).
I took a spare wheel to the California Institute of Technology/Jet
Propulsion Laboratories machine shop and and those guys machine the hub
to fit a standard 1" bearing (grins). Our tax dollars at work...
Actually, I used a front wheel- it is more symetric and easier to work
on. Also, I had those guys machine a lip around the edge so I could put
on a grease cap. I looked for, but never have found, a decent hubcap.
One warning for Guzzi wheels- they're crap. The aluminum is fairly low
grade, so it sticks to tooling and has hard/soft spots in it.
If it's a fixed wheel, could you cut then re-weld the axle a little
higher?

My Bingham doesn't have a sprung wheel - it's a fixed axel. How did you
adapt the Guzzi wheel? I was planning on pulling the drive spine out of
a
rear and machining a custom hub.

Too many projects, not even close to retirement!!

Funny- I have a Bingham sidecar also. It came with the funky little
wheel and I put a Guzzi rim on it to match my bike, like you did. To
lower the car back to normal, I bolted an extension on the shock mount
at the bottom- just two flat plates that dropped the lower shock mount
about 2 inches. I suppose you could also look for a shorter shock?
