Subject: brake pedal question

I have two brake pedals. One came off the bike as I bought it, stock
civilian. The other came with the stock floorboards I found. That one
has an odd bend in it about halfway along the length, as if it were
designed to go around something for clearance, although I can't see
what. If this makes any sense to you all, I'd appreciate any ideas as to
what the deal is? I'm putting this bike together (Eldo) with the stock
floorboards and the crooked pedal is the better one in terms of
condition. Geez, I hope this makes sense. Any reason not to use the
crooked pedal? And what the hell was it designed for?
