Hi, Todd. The throw-out bearing is lubed by gear oil
from the tranny. When I have mine out I put a little
grease on it before re-installation, but I'm sure it's
not a big deal. The grease will wash off in the gear
oil. The two washers serve as bearing races. Install
one on each side of the bearing. I make a sandwich out
of the assembly: washer-grease-bearing-grease-washer,
and then stick it in. The grease holds the hole thing
together.
