Subject: Tach reading during timing

For those of us with "tach-less" loops, what method do you
use to determing rpm during dynamic ignition timing (if
there is one other than "guessing")? The old timing light
I acquired doesn't have a tach - and I really don't want
to shell out the 500 bucks for one from Snap-on ... eeek!
