Thanks guys. Just FYI - the "Batteries Plus" in Fairfax,
VA claims to have the non metallic jacket version in
stock. I'm probably going to snap one up early next week.

Thanks Gary,
that explains why they recommend it for my Harley where
it is hidden
below the seat, behind the rear jug, in a space with
almost zero air
flow.

Tom,
I talked at length yesterday with the Odyssey folks who
steered me away
from the metal jacket as not being necessary for my
application. I told
them the Guzzi was lumpy at idle, like most v-twins, but
they still
didn't recommend it. I think the jacket was $20 more or
so. It'll cost
$17 just to ship from California. I called the
recommended dealers in AL

and OH, both of whom said they didn't deal with m/c
batteries. No
dealers anywhere around here. Oh well. I'm excited about
the technology
and lifespan. Used to go through a tractor battery every
2 years with
the G5. PITA.

I actually found this battery locally, but it does not
have the Metal Jacket. Is that necessary (I can't
imagine
why it would be unless its just to fit the hold down?

PC925MJT is the number. The MJ is for Metal Jacket
around it. The T is
for the brass extended terminals.

The way I have it mounted the positive is on the
left

 side or S in
Italian.
