Ahh Crap! That sucks! I would expect you were running "regular plugs"
what gave to cause the piston to contact in the first place? Any mods on
this engine?

Subject: Then it went Clank! (Long)

I went out to the garage last Thursday night, and fliped on my newly
installed flip-top choke, turned on the petcock and ignition switch, and
hit the starter button. The bike cranks up I let it idle for a few
minutes, flipped off the choke and let it idle some more.I gave it a few
small revs and then I reved it up good. Nothing huge, just a good
warm-up rev. Then "Clank". I hit the kill switch and pulled the plugs.
The right plug tip was flattened and pointing with the threads., and the
white insulator was broke off up in the middle of the plug. The motor
wouldn't turn all the way through with a socket on the crank-nut.I
pulled the intake, Bits of metal (dang) pulled the exhaust pipe, Bits of
metal (double dang) then I notice that the exhaust valve is
missing.Pulled the head and Man, what a mess! I will have some pics up
soon (Kieth Ruff ought to enjoy those!) The upshot is I will have to beg
borrow or trade for a piston, head, and who knows what else to get on
the road this summer. It will have to be the barter route, as Doctors
are getting all my money these days. Man I picked a heck of a week to
quit smoking. Greg '74 Police Eldo
