It was in one of the Tips columns a few years back. I'll try to find it.

information?

The absolute best solution is to get a Twist-Assist, an old accessory
from the '70s that consisits of a counterspring that slides inside the
handlebar and a locknut mechanism to preload the throttle.

If asked the guy in Portland that used to make them will still make
them to order, or at least he would several years ago when I bought
mine.

Bob,

Makes sure your cables are routed in such a way that they are not
under any
stress from the tank or pinched in between the tank. The biggest
problem I
see on our cable system is at the carb. The cable comes in the top
straight,
but has to be bent to go up under the tank. I really think there sure
be a
bend in the end to lessen up the pressure on the cables. I'm waiting
to here
back from Dave Washburn on his success with the new angle adapters he
is
using before I also go that route. The throttle rocker is a great
thing.
When on a long ride I can just rest my palm on it to keep the gas
on. I
broke my right wrist many years ago and it would go into spasms on a
long
ride till I put on the throttle rocker. I even put one on the left
side also
just for a place to relax my other hand on.

Bob.. I thought about it.. even bought the shorter (or is that
lighter?)
springs for my dellortos... but decided against it. 1st... because
Dave
Otis mentioned something about being a "pussy" (in jest), 2nd..
because
I tried out one of those cheap throttle rockers.. which for me, made
all
the difference. Bill

Throttle is a bear to twist, relatively speaking on my Eldo. I have
the
type with dual cables all the way down to the Amals. The cables are
new
and I have smeared litium grease all inside the throttle area. My
thought is the return springs are stiffer than needed. When I broke
a
throttle cable last year, twisting the throttle all of a sudden was
a
piece of cake, only one carb spring moving. When reassembling the
carbs
after rebuild, there seems to be a lot of spring in the top of the
carb.
Pros or cons to cutting off a round or two or three from the return
spring? As you rotate the throttle you can feel the resistance build
up
rapidly, really puts a major strain on the wrist, I also have the
police
style bars.

Thanks for any and all comments.
