Keith is right, the clip actually expands by pulling one side out of the
clip (slightly) and snapping it over the filler neck. If you use this
type of cap, your filler neck needs to have a flat indent on one side to
accomodate the piece of chrome that holds the clip. My flat portion was
on the side of the neck facing the back of the bike. I just bought one
of these caps from Mark E. Very vintage looking.
