I think I will try the JB Weld route first. I've never messed with the
stuff, but I guess now is as good a time as any. Thanks :>

If that doesn't work, I can always weld...best to start with less
invasive techniques.

My plan to fix mine is to bend up some rod to incorporate both tabs. I
plan
to shape the rod so it actually goes in along the bottom lip, up the
back
side of the cover and inch or two, over accross the cover, down, and
accross
the lower lip to form the second tab. This will take the concentrated
stress off the lower lip and distribute it to the body of the battery
cover.

In your case I'd rough up the back of the cover and JB Weld the above
wire
ceation to the cover.

Okay, the rearmost tab on my left sidecover is AWOL. I need to fashion a
replacement. I'm tempted to grab some small diameter mild-steel rod and
attempt to 'spot' weld it into place with my wire-feed welder. I've
thought about partially submerging the sidecover in water to help
dissipate heat in an attempt to save the paint. Any suggestions for a
better technique?
