My Dad had a springer seat in his stash that I tried out on my Ambo one
afternoon. I wasn't fond of it for two reasons. First, it seemed to set
me up quite a bit higher than my bench seat (or the police seat that I
now have on). Second, I didn't care for the springy nature of it. For
reference, I'm about 230; give or take a donut or two :>

Thanks for the info Greg.

I have heard bad things about the Harper's pan. I was comparing Mark's
and
MG Cycle's. I don't know if a springer seat will be the ticket. MG Cycle

warns of an about 200 pound limit. I'm 100 pounds over that and then
some.
Yeah wide is good. Maybe I should just think of another (spare) bench
seat.

Hi AJ,

I found my dual seat very uncomfortable. It had been recovered ??? years
ago by a previous owner. I think the foam may be original - but after
thirty years, that doesn't matter much. The foam would simply collapse
after a while and I would end up with essentially no padding.

I ordered a solo police seat from Mark and have it installed now. On the
few short rides that I've taken (less than 50 miles each time) it has
felt MUCH better. The true test will be the trip up to the National
rally (1,050 miles one-way from Tampa; not including my straying habbits
:>). If I don't post my thoughts after I get back, be sure to remind me.

I've heard the seat pan on the Harper solo seat cracks easily - even
when tightening the nuts to the frame. I don't have first hand
experience here, but this info comes from a reliable source.

I'm sure someone on the list has tried the MG Cycle seats and can
comment about them.

What I really want to do sometime is get an old steel farm implement
seat. The kind with the giant seat pan. I think it would look cool and
be very comfortable (WIDE - COMFORT)! :>
