Down here AMF sporsters usually run around 2500 to 3500 in running
condition, depending on the overall shape.

Ted, If you really want a Harley that is an excellent entry price. If you
put it together and have problems with it, like a friend of mine did, you
can disassemble and sell the parts for a tidy profit. If it runs then you

I was at a friend of a friends house tonight and they are trying
to sell a dissasembled '79 Sportster for $1500 (probably get it
for under 1k) I realize this wasn't Harley's golden years, but
curious what its worth?
