Been working on this bike since I got it in Oct. It's nearly there:
engine running well, electrics (finally) picked through and sorted out,
new fluids & new tires.
Now here's the new problem: getting into neutral.
Now, I understand that actual neutral is a much smaller zone than the
indicator light would have you believe, but I had gotten pretty damn
good at tapping that lever into the sweet spot; that is in the 40 or so
miles I put on it since getting the engine running.
I did notice lately that while in neutral the trans would make a little
noise. I ignored it I guess, and when I picked the bike up the other day
from getting some new tires, I had a hell of a time getting it into
neutral. Even when I did finally get it in, it would rattle and often
slip back into gear.
If anyone has had this problem please let me know. I have a sinking
feeling that this near ready bike is going to spend the wonderful riding
month of June gutted at the shop. I know nothing about transmissions,
and have no workspace anyway.
By the way, the engine & trans have only 1030 miles on them (really), so
I kind of doubt things are falling apart in there. Anyway, any & all
help would be greatly appreciated.
