I understand that it's not a head on replacement, but possible. My
exhaust threads are worn (but still running), and looking for a pair of
ambo heads on ebay seems to be a year long project. But I came across a
pair of T3 heads on ebay that started the thougts.
Even here in europe the ambo heads (or someone who can fix them) are
rare. I think I'll keep an eye out for the ambo heads for a while
longer.

In addition to the differences Greg mentioned, the rockers for the T3 head are different. When Guzzi made the 850 cylinders they moved the pushrod tubes outward away from the cylinder wall. The rockers were changed slightly to match the pushrod tube. The heads & rockers interchange with no problems but you may need to grind a small amount of material from the push rod tubes of stock Ambassador cylinders. Newer Gilardoni cylinders have oval pushrod tubes & will work with either cylinder/rocker set up.
