Maek sure it's not the body of the sensor leaking. Just had this happen
with a brand new switch from MG. Saw oil leaking down the side of the
case and thought it was the crush washer, but when I pulled the boot up
that covers the wire connection, I saw the oil leaking out the top of
the switch by the black body where it meets the metal housing. MG sent
me a free replacement, only have 30 miles on the bike since replacing it
but there is no leak. It does seem more sensative than the last one
though - the oil warning light on the last switch would go out as soon
as I started the bike. This new one will stay lit at idle and shut off
as soon as I rev the engine. Guess the tolerances are different on
these switches.

Hi, all. I am frustrated by an oil leak at my oil
pressure sensor. I had the sensor out, and when I put
it back in using the same crush washer it started to
leak. I put some thread tape on it but the leak
persisted, so I bought a nice copper BMW crush washer
from Spare Parts, but it still leaked! I was
surprised. I thought perhaps the oil was leaking
THROUGH the sensor, so I bought a new sensor and
aluminum crush washer from MG Cycle. I installed the
new one with thread tape as well as the crush washer.
It didn't leak for about 25 miles, but now is leaking
worse then ever. I don't know what torque the sensor
is supposed to be tightened to, but I feel that if I
make it any tighter then I currently have it I will
strip out the hole. This is such a simple thing: why
am I having so much trouble?
