Another way to minimize pinging is to use the highest octane gas you
can find. Just for grins I occasionally go to the small local airport
down the way and pick up a can of 100 octane aviation fuel for the
bikes. If anyone asks, tell them you're on the way to the races. The
higher the octane the slower it burns, 'pushing' the pistons instead of
'slapping' them.
By the way, I enjoyed tinkering with your bike at the National. Glad
to see that the regulator got you home.

 Mark recommended 2 small springs for a "smoother transition" I thought,
Mark E will have to chime in on this. I bought 1 new set of springs
from MG, took off the big looped one and replaced it with the small one
from the new set, so I now have 2 small springs on there now. Seemed to
run great, will have to find some long uphill runs to see if the pinging
has gone away when the engine is under load.
