Very cool Rich,

I like it! You're giving me some crazy ideas with rebuilding the crashed
Ambo. I certainly wouldn't have to worry about dinging out that rear
fender.

It would feel a bit sacrilege after what the bike used to be but...

I finished up the "Ambobber," a 1971 Ambassador a few days ago. This is
the second time I've rebuilt this bike. The first was a couple of years
ago. I bought it on EBay--it was in pieces--and I put it together in
basically stock configuration. The original rebuild was pretty: you can
see some pics etc athttp://www.cemrc.org/~arimoto(click on Ambo to
access pics, etc--there are some pics of other bikes there, too).

Pics of the new rebuild are at the same URL under Ambobber.

With 'not so much' enthusiasm, I put the rebuilt Ambo up for sale a year

of so ago, so I could start another project. Soon after, the tank
developed a leak I couldn't fix, so I ended up getting a well-used
replacement on EBay; this meant I'd need to do some painting. I never
liked the original 4-speed, so I decided to put in a 5-speed. One thing
led to the next with the Ambobber the end result. I bobbed the rear
fender. I took off some parts I thought were non-essential.

Notice the fancy turn signals ($8.99 a set on Ebay). Check out that
spiffy seat ($37.50, also EBay); and how about that fancy paint (Krylon
rattle-can with satin clear coat)? I'll put a luggage rack on to finish
the back.
