When I first got my Ambo going there was a lot of drag in the throttle,
so much so that the ball end of the cable would spread out the cup
holder on the end of the chain in the twist grip and pop out. The cables
were free and smooth; the source of the drag was the splitter. I took it
apart and found the interior of the splitter tube to be rougher than a
cob. I taped a piece of 320 grit onto a drill bit, chucked the bit in a
high speed drill, and polished out the inside of the tube. Got rid of
all the drag I was experiencing - throttle is a real foo-foo now, and
the ball end has never popped out since.
If you have run out of adjustment on the splitter, you'll have to
shorten your cable - not hard to do with a light touch of a
Burns-O-Matic and some solder. Try not to overheat.
