The manual for the loopframe twiins gives very simple instructions to set the carbs, requiring no special tools or equipment. I don't know who the expert is that told you Guzzi's don't idle, but i would argue that of all the bikes Ive owned, jap, german and British, the Guzzi is the easiest to set up, and the most reliable for idling. Here in Nevada the conditions vary widely, but my Ambo idles fine in both heat and cold.
