Subject: carb slides

Hey, all. Do the slides in the square-slide carbs ever
wear out? My bike has 125,000 miles on it, and one of
the slides has shiny scratches on the front side of it
(air filter side). I don't know if they are coated
with an anti-friction material that might wear off.
