Thanks for the info., Mark.
OK, so is there any sure-fire way to tell if a bike was built as a police
model? My Ambo has a chrome front fender, which I have been told is a
"police" item, and the screw off gas cap. Anything else to look for?
As far as the year of Fiat that donated its gas cap, I'm not sure. Probably
mid-late sixties or very early seventies, by the looks of it. It was in a
salvage yard, a lot was already gone, and I'm no expert on Fiats.
The inside of the Fiat cap was made with some big, bulbous, protruding
baffle thing that went down inside the filler neck. Plus, the inside of the
cap was REALLY rusty. The way the Fiat cap was made, though, I was able to
pop out all the nasty Fiat guts and use the ugly cap that came with the bike
in their place. Sounds real Mickey Mouse, but it looks kinda neat, IMHO.
I'm looking at the pix I'm trying to scan. None show the gas cap real well.
I'll see if I can come up with something eventually. Man I need a digital
camera!

P.S. If I can't get the scanner here to cooperate, is there anyone on the
list who has scanning capabilty that would be willing to scan and post the
pix, if I were to snail-mail them?
