Rick et al,
Isn't this called "exciting the coil"?? I have read about this (I think).

Hey,
Definitely not the battery or the starter. The coil or the condenser
acts
like it discharges when I shut down and doesn't build voltage again.
I don't get any fire to the plugs. After touching a wire from the
positive
battery post to the distributor side of the coil and then again to the
other
side of the coil the bike starts fireing again. Weird problem , I have
started the bike at least 10 more times since and no problem.

Is it possible your starter locked up? I had a problem with my starter
which appears to have been a corroded wire connecting to it. Wire
actually acted like a resistor and wouldn't let the juice go to the
starter. Check that your battery wires and connections to the starter
are clean and free of corrosion. If it was definitely a battery
discharge problem, not sure.

 Hi every one,
well as I live in Fl we had some nice weather today 68 degrees a
little

bit to windy though, went to the post office on my loop and got
stranded.
Figures, I have riden the bike all over town the past 2 weeks and got
confident enough not to need the cell phone, well needed the phone. I
shut the bike off to go into the PO couldn't get the stamps outa the
machine (didn't like the new $10 bill) came out and the bike wouldn't
crank. Bummed a ride home as the wife wouldn't ansew the damn phone.
Went bat to get the bike applied direct battery voltage to each side
of

the coil and she fired up again, and has cranked every time since I
got

 her home.
Anybody got any idea on what needs to be replaced coil or condenser
has

my vote probably ought to break down and tune her up.

Well gotta run,
