Keith,
sorry you went thru all that for a bigger battery. The lawn tractor battery
fits well.
I looked thru the whitney cat yesterday and the listing for Guz big twins
including loop years is a 300 cca item (cold crank amps).
The largest lawn tractor battery has this rating. I think other guys are
using any of the 3 capacity batteries.
definitely protect that positive terminal from grounding.
Good luck
Pete

Greetings All,

Just went through the ordeal of putting a Series 55 battery in my Ambo,
what a pain in the ***!! Battery is tall and wide, had to cut the
plastic "holders" on the battery to make it fit, then hammer down the
tabs on the battery tray. To add to the dilemma, the original metal
holddown that fits around the entire battery had to be modified as it
was too small to fit around this series 55. Did some engineering and
added some brackets to make it larger. This battery is also very tall,
so I had to remove and bend the tie down bolt to get some additional
threading. Also had to buy, modify, and install rubber boots for the
terminal posts. This was a definite necessity since the posts sit so
high that when the side covers are on, they would actually touch - could
be scary! All is done and I now have power again, will crank her up
today. Did any others have this problem when installing a bigger
battery??
