Keith,
When I had my battery cable re -terminated here at work, the electrical tech
told me that you may need to cut off 1-2 inches of the cable to get to
clean and untarnished wire for proper termination. Sure enough, we had to
hack off 2 inches of greened gunky wire before good wire was found. I
didn't see that on the smaller gage wire but I did put new terminals on
where they looked iffy. Only crimp onto clean dry wire. Its definitely a
cheap ( my middle name) way to avoid future problems. I even put
dielectric grease on some hard to reach terminals to keep corrosion down.
I dont know the reg circuitry enough to say for sure if this can cause the
dim light but, clean connections are definitely a good starting point.
Good Luck
Pete

Was wondering how I can check to make sure the regulator is working OK.
As part of my checks of the Gen Warning light issue posted earlier this
week, someone mentioned checking the reference voltage at the regulator.
I will be doing that this weekend, but figured I would check out the
regulator also to make sure she is working properly. I did notice at
1st glance that the connectors on the regulator look pretty rusty, so I
will clean them up and reconnect all of the wires, perhaps this is the
cause of the gen warning light not going off but staying on in a Dim
mode?
