Allright,
Who wants to give up the info on the check ball and spring in the points
cam? Been working on a 74 eldo. Woundn't start, seemed to turn over very
easy, 60lbs of compression in each cyl.,and it seemed that the fuel/air
mixture was getting blown back through the carbs. We tore the bike back
down thinking valve timing. With a degree wheel we reset the cam. The
bike went back together last night. This time it had 130lbs of
compression each cyl. We were felling pretty good about it. The
distributor went in without a hitch and looked pretty good where it was
set at. Well, it wouldn't start.Upon inspection of the points cam we
discovered that the spring was there but the check ball is MIA.
The spark looked very good to start with, but progressively got worse.
New wires, cap, ect.
Would this cause a no start problem?
Any ideas would be great.
Thanks,

Kev
