OK, lets first look at the tripple tree's

http://www.loopframe.com/tripple_trees.htm

notice the difference, the V700 rear post sets back a lot furthur than the
Ambo/Eldo, the small tank that comes with a V700 has a higher hump on it, the
only way it will work on a bike without hitting the top tripple tree plate,
is if you use a V700 tripple tree.

If you have a V700 with the standard V700 tripple tree, it will work with
either tank, the only thing you will have to change is your coil location, as
the V700 coil goes side to side and the Ambo/Eldo goes lengthwise.

If you have a V700 frame and use an Ambo/Eldo tripple tree, the V700 smaller
(and higher at the front) tank will NOT work, the Ambo/Eldo tripple tree top
plate will hit the tank.

There is also a difference in frames, the V700 has a slightly lesser rake
than the Ambo/Eldo (you can tell the difference on the frames by looking at
the coil mount)

If you have a V700 frame, and an Ambo/Eldo tripple tree, and you are using
the Ambo/Eldo tank you will see this as your tank will fit fine, but when you
go over a bump, the rear brace on the front fender will hit the front cover
on the engine.

Dave,
I'm afraid I don't understand your post. You say you disagree with
Mike's post, which stated that a big tank won't fit a V-7 frame without a
change of tripple clamps. Yet I believe your post says a big tank fit your
bike (Flame) that had the later triple clamps. Doesn't that agree with
Mike? Maybe I wasn't clear-I would like to fit a big tank on a V-7 frame.
your response leaves me confused.
I would like to know more about how the change of tripple clamps allows
fitment of the bigger tank. Does the later clamp place the stancions
farther forward, giving clearance between the fork tubes & tank at full
lock? Is that where the intertference is? Does this increase the wheelbase
and/or affect trail?

Dave's previous message:

I dissagree, Flame was a V700 frame with an Ambo front end, I could not use
the little tank, unless I put a V700 front end on it, I could however use a
large Ambo/Eldo tank no problem. There are pictures of the different
tripple trees on the website.

Will the big Ambassador/Eldorado tank fit on a V-700 frame?

Thanks!
