Say, wasn't there a note on the MotoGuzzi list about someone machining
a VW generator case so it would fit on an Eldo? I remember that he had
a web page with lots of pictures, measurements, and part numbers in case
you wanted to do the same thing. Todd Johnston sounds familiar.

 Charlie,

I will be very interested in hearing how your alt mod goes. The guy's name at the WSNY Rally by the way was
Dale. Sorry I can't remember his last name but he had the sweetest set up on his Eldo with that Nippo Denso
alternator.

I was thinking that if...IF I ever get to dropping my Convert engine into a Loopframe (and making it into
the ultimate loop sportbike)I will want to use the alt in place of the generator method. That way I won't
have to worry about the alt hitting the fender.

So make good notes! :-)

Subject: Alternators on Loops

Hi All,
A while back (just after the W. NY Rally I think) the topic dujour on the list was putting an alternator on a Loop. I've been looking for just the right
alternator since then to try and work up a conversion "kit." Yesterday I received a catalog from one of my lawnmower parts suppliers and lo and
behold there's this nice small Hitachi alternator for $69 new! Originally it was for a Yanmar diesel tractor. It has an internal regulator and puts out
40 amps. The pulley diameter is slightly smaller than the Bosch generators and the outside diameter is about the same. Looks like it could be
mounted to a modified generator bracket and would not require any modification to the belt cover done that way. They only have 26 of them so
I'll try and get one a.s.a.p. and see how it will work out. If it doesn't, well I can always upgrade one of my tractors! Cheers,

Charlie
