John,
same with my V7 Special. However, I am convinced, there is a hole in the
head spindle for the lock. I assume it got turned with regard to the
original working position. I left it as it is, but you could reply whether
this is true.

In the process of disassembling my '69 Ambo, I noticed that the steering
head spindle doesn't have an receptacle hole for the fork lock. Nothing.
I guess the lock never worked, no way that it could. (the key didn't
come with the bike anyway). I wondered if anyone else has noticed this.
